Our History

1931-1940

1936Oct. Chemicals division of Aichi Tokei Denki spun off to create Aichi Kagaku Kogyo, capitalized at 1 million yen and headquartered within the Aichi Tokei offices (#15 Chitose Aza Funagata, Minami-ku, Nagoya).
1939Feb. Developed Japan's first urea-based resin adhesive, "AICHI-MUTEKI-NORI."

1941-1950

1944Mar. Established the Shinkawa plant.
1949May. Listed on the Nagoya Stock Exchange.

1951-1960

1954July. Urea resin wood adhesives first in Japan to be granted the right to display the JIS mark.
1960Jan. Launched "AICA DECOLITE" high pressure laminate (HPL). Changed the brand name of the melamine sheets to "AICA."

1961-1970

1962July. Listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
1966Mar. Built factory in Jimokuji.
June. Changed company name to "Aica Kogyo Co., Ltd."
1967Feb. AICA HPL (high pressure laminate) receives JIS certification.
1968Dec. Established first joint company in Malaysia.
1969Mar. AICA Aibon (polyvinyl acetate plastic emulsion wood adhesive) received JIS certification.

1971-1980

1974Mar. Established P.T. AICA Indonesia.
Oct. Moved headoffice to the 20th floor of the Takihyo Building (2-20-19 Marunouchi, Naka-ku, Nagoya), currently the Nagoya Tokio M&F Building.
1976July. Established AICA Door Sdn. Bhd.
1979Dec. Established MAICA Wood Industry (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

1986May. Listed on the First Section of the Tokyo and Nagoya Stock Exchanges.

1991-2000

1997Dec. Granted for ISO9001.
1999Mar. Invested in MAICA LAMINATES SDN. BHD. (Malaysia)
June. Established the Fukushima Plant.

Dec. Acquired stocks of Dynea Asia Pacific, a subsidiary of Dynea Chemicals (Finland) and established Aica Asia Pacific Holding Pte.Ltd. (Singapore).
