Launched a Special Website for 3D Decorative Hard Coat Film for Automobiles.
Promoting Decorative Films as a Sustainable Alternative to Paint in Automotive Manufacturing.
Aica Kogyo Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and President: Kenji Ebihara, Head Office: Nagoya, Aichi) has launched a special website for "Lumiart," a 3D Decorative Hard Coat Film for automotive interiors and exteriors that is gaining attention as an alternative to paint.
Background of Special Website Launch
In recent years, efforts toward a decarbonized society have accelerated, and we are focusing on developing and expanding products that contribute to CO₂ reduction. In the automotive industry, approximately 25% of CO₂ emissions from car manufacturing are said to come from the painting process.* As a result, decorative films are gaining attention as an alternative to traditional paint.
In 2018, we launched a 3D Decorative Hard Coat Film for car interiors, which has since been adopted in a wide variety of domestic and international models. Additionally, in September 2021, we successfully developed the industry's first 3D Decorative Hard Coat Film for car exteriors. Since exterior surfaces are larger than interior ones, replacing paint on exteriors has greater potential to reduce CO₂ emissions. Consequently, many domestic and international manufacturers are interested in this product, and evaluation tests are currently underway for full-scale adoption.
As environmental awareness continues to rise in the automotive industry, we have launched a new special site to highlight the advantages of 'Lumiart,' which contributes to CO₂ reduction and improved working conditions. The website features images, illustrations, and videos that clearly explain the product's features and benefits, making it easy for everyone to understand its value.
Through this website, we aim to accelerate proposals to manufacturers and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by promoting this product.
*CO₂ emissions are significantly increased due to the repeated drying processes involved in the application of primer, intermediate coats, and topcoats.
